Design of a super yacht
The 62.40 m Amels 199 motor yacht ‘Madame Kate’ was built by Amels in Netherlands at their Vlissingen shipyard. The yacht’s interior has been designed by Laura Sessa Romboli.
Madame Kate’s interior configuration has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 12 guests overnight in 6 cabins, comprising a master suite, 1 VIP stateroom, 2 double cabins and 2 twin cabins. She is also capable of carrying up to 17 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.
Her length is 62.40 m, beam is 10.32 m and she has a draught of 3.45 m. Madame Kate features a full displacement steel hull and aluminium superstructure, with teak decks. She was built to Lloyds Register classification society rules, and is MCA Compliant.
Some of the yacht’s features include an enclosed lounge on the sun deck, a Touch & Go helicopter platform on the foredeck, and two folding balconies, as well as a large beach club. The Beach Club boasts a swim platform, retractable stairs, a Sauna, a steam shower and Gym equipment.
She is powered by twin Caterpillar 3512C engines.
Saltwater was contracted by Amels to generate the structural design of both the hull and superstructure of the vessel. In order to generate these general construction drawings Saltwater completed numerous calculations ranging from scantlings to FEM analyses. Furthermore Saltwater also worked in close cooperation with the classification society to ensure that the vessel scantlings met all the requirements for Special Service Craft. As a result of our close contact with Amels we were able to integrate several of the main outfitting items directly into the general construction plans. Among others this included stairways, tender bays with overhead cranes, transom doors a helipad and the shaft line. Integrating these major items into the general construction drawings makes it easier for the yard to complete the next phase of the engineering process, namely the detail workshop drawings.
