Extension of a cursor frame

Saltwater has been contracted by Fugro to assist in various engineering works associated with the existing cursor frame that is located inside of the moonpool. The engineering provides an extension of the current cursor frame.

In present situation the Sea Bed Frame (SBF) for sampling is stored inside the moonpool under the moonpool hatches. In exceptional cases, the frame is moved to the deck which can only be performed in fair weather conditions. To assist in safely moving the SBF to the deck, the guide frame is to be extended through the moonpool hatches. This resulted in an extension which is bolted to the moonpool frame guiding the SBF in rough weather conditions to above main deck level. The moonpool hatches can be closed again and the SBR can be safely positioned on top.

The extension pieces consist of beams positioned on both side of the moonpool and are bolted to the existing frame. The beams have plastic cladding throughout to protect the paint on the equipment. The frame can be split on deck level to make a flush deck.
