Mike Stelzer

Owner Saltwater Engineering / Naval architect

Q: When did you start working at Saltwater Engineering

A: In 2006, from the very beginning

Q: Any hobbies? Sports? And how do you spend your free time?

A: Exercising is important to me; among other things, I am very busy with triathlon, golf, watersports (sailing, water skiing etc.) and freeride skiing. I also enjoy good food and drinks; I smoke my own fish and meat and also have an extensive single malt (whiskey) collection.

Q: How would you best describe the Saltwater Engineering culture?

A: Informal yet professional, hard work but always time for a chat and a joke.

Q: What was your most fun project and why?

A: For me, a highlight was definitely a transport job of a 1200 tons of submarine. The submarine had to be completely lifted out of the water and placed on board of a transport ship. It was very challenging to find the right technical solution and to calculate everything under high time pressure.

Q: Who is your favorite fiction figure?

A: Spock (Star Trek)

Are you facing a naval engineering challenge?
