Saltwater - Erik Meijers

Erik Meijers

Q: When did you start working at Saltwater Engineering?

A: January 2017

Q: Any hobbies? Sports? And how do you spend your free time?

A: I play airsoft (it’s kind of like paintball but without the paint). In addition, i’m often in the gym mainly to do some boxing. The rest of the time I play video games. Lately I play a lot of rocksmith – a kind of Guitar Hero but with an electric guitar –  where I learn how to play guitar for real!

Q: How would you best describe the Saltwater Engineering culture?

A: I would say a laid back setting, but serious when required. It’s very open; everyone is literally in the same office space. That helps a great deal when you run into difficulties on the job. Help is often not more than 1 or 2 desks away.

Q: What was your most fun project and why?

A: The Sunrise. The ship had undergone a renovation and new paperwork (stability book, safetyplan, ect.) had to be introduced. A inclination test was also required. It was an interesting project with many different aspects of naval engineering. And ofcourse it’s always fun to see something that started of as a sketch on paper come to life in the real world.

Q: Who is your favorite fiction figure?

A: Eric Cartman, South Park

Are you facing a naval engineering challenge?
