1930's - 8,5m Sloop Print
Thursday, 13 December 2007 10:24

In co-operation with MLV Alubouw, Saltwater Engineering has undertaken the design of a 8,5m sloop to be built entirely out of aluminum. The boat is to have the overall look of a boat from the 1930’s, however with a modern interior styling.

The build is to showcase the traditional building capabilities of MLV Alubouw. The shell of the vessel will be manufactured using the conventional boat building methods along with sheet metal working tools such as the English wheel.

The design loop started with some basic design sketches in order to define the wishes of the client. After the client approval the actual vessel lines were defined. The final shape was checked to ensure that the displacement and stability criteria could be met.

In order to show the client what the boat will actually look like the 3D model was rendered.

The build of the vessel is to be completed in time for the HISWA 2008.
