Subacuatica S.A., based in Spain, contracted Saltwater Engineering to support them in reflagging a Dutch vessel to the Spanish flag. This entailed numerous different engineering phases from determining the vessels current scantlings, drafting general construction plans and a general arrangement to the calculation of the stability booklet with accompanying inclining test.
The vessel, the “Castor 14” has never actually been registered in the Netherlands due to the fact that the vessel was previously owned by the Amsterdam Port Authority. After gathering the initial data, Saltwater generated new plans of the vessel which included: - General Arrangement - Safety Plan - Engine room Arrangement - Tank and capacity Plan - Shell expansion - General construction plans
Furthermore Saltwater also completed various calculations for the vessel, these included: - Net and Gross tonnage - Inclining test - Complete intact stability booklet
All these drawings and calculations were presented to the Spanish Shipping Authorities in order for our client to obtain the Spanish flag for the vessel.
The vessel finally left Holland for Spanish water in August of this year. After an uneventful trip the vessel and crew arrived safely in Huelva Spain six days later. Currently Subacuatica is in the process of finalizing the reflagging under the Spanish flag.
