Replacing 320 tons of steel within a forty-day time slot to repair steel damage on a vessel over 300 m in length, a tight schedule where management skills, technical expertise and engineering are key. Who dares to take on the challenge?

In the particular case of this 6000 TEU vessel, Damen Shiprepair Rotterdam (DSR) was confident it could be done, calling on Saltwater Engineering to provide the essential extra engineering power and expertise.

In the end, it was all hands on deck for the Saltwater Engineering team to complete the necessary engineering works in the required time frame. From detail drafting works to complex FEM analyses, all aspects were completed to both the satisfaction of the yard and the owner of the vessel.

Due to the uniqueness of this project a lot of media attention was generated. An extensive article was published in the Shipbuilding Industry Magazine describing the works.
