The first successful project together with the Bocxe Shipyard in Delft was quickly followed up by a second order. This time the works covered the total design of a new tour boat for the canals in Amsterdam. After an initial meeting with the client, Rederij 't Smidtje, Saltwater proceeded to make the first esthetic design sketches. The future owner of the vessel wanted a classic or retro design, however incorporating “green” technology. In close correspondence with both the shipyard and the Rederij ‘t Smidtje the design of the vessel was finalized.
After completing the esthetic design the technical design was further optimized. This phase took into account the scantlings, stability and hydrostatics of the vessel. Also space needed to be generated for all the equipment that was to be integrated into the vessel. A significant design factor was that the vessel needed to be “green”. This meant that space needed to be reserved for the generator and battery packs to power the electric propulsion system. Once this phase of the works was completed the actual construction plans were generated. From these construction plans the actual product data was extracted so that the plate nestings could be produced.
