After the deckhouse of the dive support vessel Seven Atlantic, currently under construction at IHC-Merwede, was completed at Maatschappij de-Maas, it was hoisted onto the vessel by the crew of the Matador3.
The Matador3 almost working at its limits in order to lift the complete deckhouse finished the job just under one hour. The deckhouse, with an estimated weight of 800 tons was already completely outfitted with ventilation trunks, cabling and complete cabins even with the bunks, showers and toilets in place. The cement flooring was also already in place, therefore it was really important to carefully calculate the maximum allowable deflections. Adding additional temporary beams for the hoist resulted in no large deflections occurring. Afterwards no cracks where found in the cement flooring resulting from the lift.
The hoisting of the completely outfitted deckhouse shortens the delivery time significantly for the shipyard. Thus all parties gained from this successful hoist.
